2012 Travel Photography Year in Review

Well I know I’m about a week late, but I put together a collection of my favorite photos from my travels with Adriana over 2012.  I’ve recently joined Vimeo so am starting to post some videos there – this will be where I post videos that I’ve really worked on, whereas YouTube will still be my dumping ground for random outtakes and what not.  Kinda like Flickr vs. 500px but we’ll save that post for another day.

I did struggle a bit in making this – it seemed that the image quality degraded when I built the movie in iMovie.  I looked around on the web and this seems to be a somewhat common occurrence with iMovie.  But I’m not yet willing to invest in a better movie editor until I can justify the cost.  So for the time being this will do.

Anyway, without further ado, please have a look back at 2012!

What a lovely way to capture your trips for 2012. And what a great choice for soundtrack :) I think my favorite photos were of Copenhagen (seriously, the photos of the houses and their reflections looked like a painting), the Tower bridge with the Olympic rings (BEAUTIFUL sky!), and also those of Kiev. I had two questions: the photo in Kiev of what seemed like an abandoned hospital with bunk beds…where/what is that? Also, the photograph you took of (what I assume to be) falling stars in Sossusvlei…how did you achieve that? I thought it was an amazing photograph.
I look forward to seeing future videos and best of luck (and plenty of health) to you and Adriana in these next couple of days, as the baby’s due date approaches.

Hi Helen – thanks a lot for the comment! To answer your questions the last picture of the Kiev set is Chernobyl, which if I’m being honest was the most interesting part of the Ukraine trip. And the falling stars photo – that’s a doozy of an answer and something I’ll write about as soon as I get a chance. Your request will bring it up on my priority list!

        Thanks Aaron!
By the way, I just saw the video you made of Adriana’s pregnancy at DriEverywhere. I thought it was amazing and it seemed like you guys had a blast doing it :) On that note, congratulations on the arrival of baby Isabella! From the photos, your newest model seems adorably cute and a true joy. I wish all the best to you and your family, and I’m sure Isabella will be the most wonderful new adventure for you both.
PS – I’m sure Adriana already knows this, but there’s a beautiful bossa nova song by Tom Jobim called “Isabella.” It’s one of his few songs that’s originally written in English, which seems fitting in your case. Anyways, here’s a link with the song lyrics (and a fairly tacky video) in case you are not familiar with it: http://letras.mus.br/tom-jobim/74403/traducao.html

Hello Joao I’m sorry it took so long to reply! I use iMovie for the movies; there’s an option to add a map or globe before the movie starts and it works great!
