Well, here you have it!  The first wave of what will ultimately be a series of posts documenting the evolution of the baby bump throughout the course of Adriana’s pregnancy.  My plan has been to take a picture of Adriana from the front and from the side; the profile picture will only be Adriana but the front photo will have her holding something or doing something relevant to the week.  It may be something that we bought, it may be something that we received or something silly that reminds us of the trials and tribulations of that week of the pregnancy.

Ultimately as I put these together, I’ll make a book with each of these weeks and their details included.  Once I get a few of these posted and get caught up I’ll write some tutorials on how I did the lighting, etc.  as I explained on the opening page.

By the way, if the text on each picture is a bit difficult to read, click on the image and it will open a larger file.

When we first found out Adriana was pregnant, we started playing around with some apps on the App store and we found a few.  One of the apps that we found was called “Baby Bump” and it had a nice weekly description of how the baby is changing.  So I decided to include those descriptions in italics at the bottom of each set of photos.  This gives us an idea of what’s happening internally as we see the bump grown on the outside!

Not everything went perfectly – some weeks we were simply too busy traveling or apart and weren’t able to take photos.  For example, we don’t have a “Week 8” because we were in Namibia during that week.  So instead we jump straight to Week 9 – below!

I remember the above being a particularly brutal week for Adriana.  I can’t tell you how tired she was, and it really made me realize how hard Namibia must have been on her.  And that made it a really crappy week to be away for work, but there wasn’t much that could be done about it.

This was by far one of the coolest weeks that we had!  I can’t tell you how funny it was to see that little fetus swimming around, we both couldn’t believe how it was just jumping around, doing somersaults in Adriana’s belly!  And of course it was too small to be felt so we were just in complete shock!   In addition to the scan this was also our chance to check for chromosomal abnormalities and all of that nasty stuff.  Unfortunately we were so excited for the scan it turned out we were a few days too early.  Adriana went again a few days later, but I was coming home from the US on a delayed flight and had to miss the scan.

Here’s the two pics that Adriana is holding above, just putting in here for posterity!

After week 12 Adriana left for Brazil for 3 weeks.  I simply didn’t have the vacation time to go with her so I stayed home.  As a result, we missed a few weeks of pictures but caught up as soon as she got back.
