Here we go!  The home stretch!

I can’t overstate the fact that Adriana and I are not “good” at cleaning.  So getting ready for this baby has been a bit of an adventure but I am confident in saying that we’re on the ball and will make sure our baby grows up in a clean home! 🙂

Tati threw an incredible party for Adriana.  There was a lot of preparation that went into it and they had a great time – the house was completely decorated in all kinds of travel related stuff – napkins that looked like passport stamps, globes around the house, etc. It was pretty cool and we got a ton of nice stuff for our upcoming baby girl!

This was a massive shopping trip – we went all over London to get stuff and spent a big chunk of change!  But we’d heard too many stories of people getting caught unprepared so we wanted to make sure this didn’t happen to us.

The NCT class was awesome.  A lot of people joke that this class is a way of paying to make friends who are in a similar situation to you.  If that’s the case, fine.  The people we’ve met were great and Adriana is keeping in touch with the girls and I’m confident that we’ll get together as a group again in February once all of the babies are born.  It’s a great way to bond and hang out with people going through a similar experience!

When my Mom came to town we had an absolute blast.  Unfortunately she had some problems on the flight over and this mammoth bag filled with baby clothes didn’t arrive! Argh….but it was found soon enough and we had a great time opening all of the little outfits – it was truly amazing how much stuff she brought out!

Instead of turkey we made chicken – it’s tough to justify making a mammoth turkey for just three people! So instead we made a chicken and had an easy evening.

Oh man – this was an interesting picture for me!  Adriana is definitely a bit puzzled by this contraption but I’m having fun experimenting with it.  I used it to put together a nursery video that I made a week or two ago and it’s pretty cool, but it really does take a lot of practice to get used to it.  Hopefully by the time she’s born and able to crawl and walk I’ll know what I’m doing with this thing.

One of my friends had an idea to take a picture of his baby girl holding the same yardstick for all of her birthdays – obviously to show how much she’d been growing.  So this was one of the things that we saw and thought it would be a good idea to buy, I think it’ll be cool to take pictures of her against this to see how quickly she grows.

Once we packed for the hospital, things became very “real” to me.  We wrote a birth plan and I took some personal notes for myself with phone numbers, contact details, reminders, etc.  After this week I can honestly say it became a waiting game.  Yes I was still nervous about what was to come but my anticipation had trumped my nervousness and I was then 100% ready for the baby to arrive at any time!

Christmas was great – Adriana and I opened gifts on Christmas morning, but at midnight because we were so excited! It got us thinking about how exciting it must be to celebrate Christmas with a child, we’re really looking forward to it and can’t wait for next year!  After celebrating together, we then spent a few days relaxing, playing with our new toys and finalizing this project!

Happy New Year!  The New Year celebration was great because Adriana’s parents were in town – they had arrived that morning and gave us a whole bunch of gifts for our baby girl. And now at this point in time we were truly in the “delivery zone” where all the time we were waiting for Adriana to feel something that would send us to the hospital.  We watched the fireworks (even saw some of Adriana’s blog readers at our secret fireworks watching place!) but thankfully there was no labor while millions of people were walking around our house! 🙂

Well this is it! As we entered what turned out the last week of Adriana’s pregnancy it turned out to be a pretty surreal experience – I was constantly asking her if she was feeling okay, we were wondering how our daughter would make her grand appearance into this world. As we visited the doctor we were really hoping that she would come on her own and wouldn’t need to be induced or anything like that, and sure enough that’s exactly what she did! For the rest of the story you can read my final blog post on this project which will be up shortly.
